Reduction of migrants arriving in Yemen during 2013

The number of migrants registered as arriving in Yemen in 2013 fell to approximately 54,000, from over 84,000 in 2012. The reasons for the drop in numbers are so far unknown, but it has been suggested that changes to Saudi immigration laws has been a contributing factor, as have increased efforts to crack down on trafficking and smuggling by the Yemeni government.
